But there were signs of the flooding we have been suffering from.

Usually the river is not even visible from the gardens and paddocks.
But it was pretty "harmless" to the dramatic damages in other regions.
I'm still impressed by my vacation planning skills - I was there from the first to the very last day of this horrid storm. Then I went homeI hope that you won't see any flooding.
The flooding we have had at the end of last week is said to be the worst flooding in the last 300 years or longer. We certainly don't need a catastrophe like this again soon.
In Austria, there are some places that are destined to see more flooding than other areas and of course thunderstorms in the mountains can have horrendous effects but this non stop rain for four or five days with between two and five times the amount of rain usually seen in the month of September was more than any safety systems could take. We were really lucky in Vienna. Just a little bit more rain and we would have been in a lot of trouble.
I hope that you will have better weather when you come to Vienna next time.I'm still impressed by my vacation planning skills - I was there from the first to the very last day of this horrid storm. Then I went home
Your country is beautiful regardless. I hope to go back to Vienna soon to see some of the palace gardens and nature overall, we were mainly stuck inside museums this time around.
Nature can be cruel and scary, let's hope we recover soon and that this will be a one-off for many years to come.
