Gross.

Imagine getting a reduced fine for an "early guilty plea" when the store was in that state and they'd been warned already? Just gross, seriously.

I never think the stores seem very clean, you can tell a well managed store by the state if it’s car park. Truro’s is rank

Eww 🤢 I thought it was going to be the one in Rochdale at first. So glad it isn’t as I have several bags of hay from there…

I've never actually been in the Rochdale one, although thinking about it I don't know if I've ever been in one full stop, it's not a shop we had in NI (that might've changed since I moved).

I always find them to be very mismatched and nothing ever seems to have the right price on which can be very confusing. But the girls love their hay 🙂

This reminds me of a conversation I heard in Aldi a couple of years ago between 2 staff putting stock out…. As one went to put pitta breads out on the very empty looking bread aisle other one shouted from another aisle at him to shake each packet before putting it on the shelf as there were cockroaches out the back & they’d been found in the bread storage area. Cue the member of staff putting out pitta replying that he thought the problem was rats as rats had been found been nibbling on bread loaves and they had needed to dump crate loads of nibbled loaves. First employee called back over to him to say rats were the reason there was no fresh bread in store that day they thought the pre packed pittas were probably ok due to thicker packaging. Needless to say I didn’t buy anything but did have a chat with the manager….

I used to work at a famous supermarket and they very often had a problem with rats and mice. The rat traps were always placed out the back away from the view of customers but needless to say, I didn’t do my food shop at that particular store as I knew what was lurking behind the scenes 🤢

I'd be surprised if it wasn't more common than we like to realise, the images of some takeaways that get prosecuted are horrendous :vom: but I'm still baffled as to how The Range had a store get into that much of a state. Bad enough if it's in the background in storerooms and employee only areas but this was right out in the open.

It's been what, 9 hours? And I'm still baffled.

Oh don't, I still need to buy my food from somewhere 🤢

I’m sure that most places where food is stored will have an issue at some time with pests. At one time our local Tesco had a family of sparrows flying up high in the roof space and coming down to help themselves to whatever they could peck at on the shelves. It took several days to catch them humanely and put them out side again

Our local shopping centre has a rat problem, there are boxes of poison in discrete corners and round the back. It is by a river walk, I see rats running along the river bank. Their never going to get rid of them but hopefully they keep them under control and out of the shops.

As for the Range @Claire W ours is useless on pricing too. The price labels on the shelves don't relate to the items above them. They seem to restock the shelves and move items around but don't check the labels. I often go in there to buy things and walk out without. They have a place on their website where they ask how did we do today or something similar. I often leave a comment to the effect, went in your store at ......... today for 4 items left with nothing. None of the items I wanted to buy had the correct price labels and there was no one around to ask for help. As I couldn't compare prices I went to the nearby B&M and did my shopping. I've been doing this for about 4 years but nothing changes!

It must be the same in all the Ranges as I’ve found the same problem in the 4 I’ve visited. I prefer B&M

Disgusting that they allowed there store to get into that state. Sadly, vermin are ever present and most supermarket chains employ pest control companies to keep the problem to a minimum. its the same in offices too. I work in a modern office building but at this time of year we always start to get mice coming in looking for somewhere warm to spend the winter.

When I lived in countryside we always got little field mice come in for the winter. They lived somewhere under the kitchen sink unit. We did try blocking around the water pipes to little effect. I didn’t mind too much but you did have to put washing powder into containers because anything in cardboard was always chewed.
Otherwise apart from their rather smelly pee they didn’t bother us

We had mice in Cornwall, they came through the water pipes too. One they ripped up clothes from the laundry basket to make little nests.
