Hello everyone,

I popped my pigs together in shallow water as they each waited their turn for a lathering of shampoo and while I was washing one of my boys the other male started to lick the two girls. They were all damp as they had been rinsed prior. I thought it was quite sweet behavior. We have had the girls for about three months and he is very affectionate and caring towards them. Almost like a little Daddy figure. For the past 2 and a half years I only had my two boys so was completely used to their typical boar behaviors. We had our lads neutered at the start of this year and they have both been so much happier especially now that they have ladies in their lives. I'm sure others must have affectionate grooming pairs too but for me it was something new to see. I thought I would share.

That's adorable. Thank you for sharing. I love their cute noises

Thank you. He has always had a teddy bear and he used to lick the teddy and pull its arm up and down, and he would do it constantly so I think there must have been a desire for an affection that he wasn't getting with my other male.

:DWhat a lovely tri-coloured trio!:wub:I think they're saying "When's Mum going to get us out of this water? My tummy's getting cold!" :)):))

:D I remember someone posted in another thread about piggies grooming each other. I have seen Feather grooming Swan and Dandy grooming Beano, but never visa versa. And in each case, it is the most docile, tamer one doing the grooming. I have never seen Inka and Maya grooming each other, and these two are both very calm and docile. :hmm: So maybe grooming is for reassurance as well as a sign of affection?

Yes, I see what you mean and I agree. He is very sweet on both the little ladies but I think there is more to it than just affection.
