Yes! Tears in my eyes but I think my guineapigs finally groomed me! Another member said that if guineapigs lick you then they trust you? But they both did, one on my hand and the other on my nose. Appearently it's higher trust if on your nose? Sorry if it seems like a big deal I just thought they would never trust me like that. My dad then said its because humans have a salty taste and animals like that. So no I'm unsure. Please explain about guineapigs grooming humans etc... X

It probably does have a fair amount to do with the salty taste but it takes a huge amount of trust and bravery for them to do it so rejoice away and be happy that they are definitely trusting you :)

So does this mean they see me as part of their herd or something?

So it's not that I'm just tasty?

Put it this way, I have had numerous piggies over the years. Only a couple have ever kissed me/groomed me. So I think it's a huge honour :luv::luv:

If it's a taste thing then all my piggies would surely have a lick. And they don't (but one is a nibbler!) so I'm sticking with my theory that it's love and acceptance.

Agreeing with the above, only two out of three of my piggies have ever licked me, one almost constantly. These also happen to be the most loving and cuddly piggies, rather than the hungrier ones! The piggy that doesn't lick me does have quite the habit of nibbling however.. I like to think this is a more boisterous form of kissing

Romily licks, it's amazing - and sometimes ticklish! I've started saying 'kiss' just to see if she will associate licking with a kiss. Fudge never licked until Romily arrived and occasionally if Romily is licking, Fudge will give me a tiny lick. However I never know if it's a lick or a toothless nibble.

I like to think of it that way. They have the confidence so they must trust you! :luv:

It's so loveable and affectionate, it's almost like your pets loving and caring for you back :luv:

It feels great to know that they care and are looking after you in a way (by trying to clean you)! It feels nice physically too! Haha! Soft and warm! :luv:

None of my previous pigs ever licked me (but nor did they ever bite me!) now two of my three regularly lick my hands/wrists. The other is a bit of a nipper and she and the lickiest pig have both drawn blood! But I love the licks! Once I got down with my face on the floor and said 'touch my nose' and the formed a piggy train and all touched (one lick, one half lick and one touch) my nose!

It's so special . It feels like they love you. :luv:

So sweet! One of my pigs, Sundae, is a kisser. She will lick your hands almost incessantly when you hold her. We call them 'pig kisses.' Not quite sure if she loves us or if we taste salty, but I'm going with love! I've probably gotten a kiss at one point or another from all my pigs, but Sundae is by far more of a kisser than the other pigs I've had.
