Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if I got a long haired guinea pig, during their time of adjustment when I first bring them home, how would I groom it? They're supposed to be groomed daily, right? So how am I supposed to keep their coat from getting matted and tangled? Or could I just skip it? Thanks for your help!

I wouldn't be too worried at first, give your piggy some time. With the right technique piggies don't tend to take too long to come around to the point of stroking, and then you could use a brush gently. My longhaired girl is friendly and easily handleable but she HATES being groomed and rumble strutts at me. I don't know where she'd got it from, she's always done it even though I have always been gentle. When she was first getting used to be I didn't groom her for a week or so and she was fine when I eventually got to the point of being able to. She has a short coat at the moment because i've lobbed it all off for the summer :)
