Hi there, this is Arby. He’s been doing this strange grinding sound quite often and continually more often. It started about a month ago but has gotten worse. He does it when he is not eating. He has not eaten / drank less, nor lost any weight. I took him to the vet and they were useless. They gave anti inflammatory / painkiller and mite treatment. Neither have helped. I am really worried about him. He’s also been making some cry shrieking sounds sometimes. Sometimes just for a second or two but today he did it for about 10 seconds. Please any advice would be much appreciated. Here is a video:
if you turn the sound up you can hear the sound. Many thanks all.
(Btw he has a huge cage and also a neighbour cage mate)

Hi and welcome

Unfortunately we don't have a supported video upload facility as we are entirely run by voluntary member donations.

You will need to upload your video elsewhere on a public setting and then copy across.

It sounds like a pain issue. Have your vets checked done an x-ray of the head por checked the lower gut for potential thickening?
It sounds like there is a major pain issue going on somewhere.

Thank you
I have uploaded the video on YouTube now and shared the link.
The vet did not do an X-ray. I think she did a full body check and checked the gut.
I am planning to make another appointment but I was hoping for any advice in the meantime if anyone has seen this before?

Here is a YouTube link to the video:

Teeth grinding as a pain indicator is usually referring to pain or discomfort in the surrounding area; not necessarily pain in the teeth themselves (although it can be that too).
Could be a brewing abscess somewhere? I am however just guessing here.

These things are rarely so easy that you can snap your fingers and pull the rabbit out of your magician's hat, unfortunately, as much as I'd like to. :(
