A couple of weeks ago I lost my oldest girl from my herd of 5 (now a herd of 4) and Piglet one of the other girls has started to bite the bars of the cage since her friend has passed away. She still has3 other girls with her they all get on no squabbles or anything. She’s still eating and squeaking and everything but I’m worried about her causing damage to her teeth with biting the bars.
Any advice?

They live in an 8x2 c&c cage.

I've recently had two looses in my group and my remaining girls were quite subdued. They perked up a lot after I rearranged the cage completely. Maybe you could give it a try as well.

Hi

Is the bar biting connected to any attention seeking behaviour or is it totally random?

My own Tribe is attention seeking bar biting as soon as they here us chopping an cooking in the kitchen and has been for over a decade. I have in the whole time only had one old lady with broken incisors - and that is more in line with the normal average and age related, considering that I had at least 60 bar biting piggies passing through my life since they discovered that is was something I could not make them stop by sheer dint of not being able to be in two different rooms at once...

My piggy did the same thing after her cage mate died to CBS despite having another friend to be with. Her anxiousness and bare biting stopped around a month after. However, you said a couple of weeks ago, has her weight been remaining consistent?
