I am going to house my potential 2 rescue piggies in my outside room (except in the summer months) ....... A Shed/summer house which I am going to decorate and then hopefully spend a lot of time out there in the good weather. I will be well insulated with heating plus an air conditioning unit.

I am going to purchase two Ikea tables. One 150 x 75cm and one 100 x 60cm and have them shaped in a L shape. I was going to go for a c&c 4x2 with a 2x1 loft and a 1x2 extension on the side but I'm wondering whether a correx only cage that fits the dimensions of the table tops may work, one with higher sides.

Basically I want to know if this would be secure/ safe enough. The room will be secure. Also, what thickness of corex would I need. I bow to your experience. I was also thinking lining the corex with oilcloth might give added protection to the corex!

There are people out there who have used just correx - as long as the sides are high enough - if you were doing that you could fold it to be a little bigger than the grid sizes and so have more space for the piggies! I'd make sure the correx fits well on the table so there's no danger of it falling off. I've heard of some brave piggies who like to climb and jump so you'd need to be carefull just in case - but as I say, with high enough walls it shouldn't be an issue.

I'd go for 4mm correx - especially if you're just using correx and no grids, you'll also want to get a really really good tape to hold it all together! Oilcloth is a good idea - I have mine lined with it and although I'm sure the correx is fine without it I feel a lot happier with the oilcloth lining!
