Hi guys šŸ‘‹šŸ»
Recently we lost one of our guinea pigs leaving our other one lonely and honestly really down, so we made the decision to get two new buddies for him pretty soon afterwards.

I donā€™t know if Iā€™m being paranoid or not but I like to get the two pups out and give them a good check over everyday.

The one had dry ears when we first got him but Iā€™ve now cleared that up, however the other has fur missing from around his eye and where his grease gland is, itā€™s dry and flaky and I do try to clear it every day but I was hoping for some advise on what it could be or if Iā€™m just because a little paranoid given whatā€™s recently happened to us.

Thanks šŸ˜

So sorry for your loss. If I were you Iā€™d take them both to a vet for a health check. Hopefully nothing too serious, if anything at all.

One thing to bear in mind is that boar trios rarely work out. Iā€™d strongly (and gently) suggest you find a lone boar friend for the other piggy, and leave the two new guys as a pair.

We love pigtures šŸ˜

UPDATE: Please refrain from telling me that three boars together ā€œwonā€™t work outā€ Iā€™ve had guinea pigs since I was a little girl and have spoken to many experienced breeders.

There are many extremely experienced owners on this forum too and itā€™s been shown that male trios fail almost 100% of the time - if they were females then the story would be different. On this forum, weā€™re all here to be helpful & would never steer you wrongly. Iā€™d get the two taken to an exotic vet who can properly diagnose whatā€™s going on and also give them a good health check. All the best! :)
