Grass And Worms

Hi, i have a question .
Do guinea pigs who are being fed grass daily need to be dewormed? I'm not that familiar with worming or anything but I'm assuming that deworming is to help prevent worms? Or is it to help cure it?
Anyway, as the weather is getting warmer I have been giving my guinea pigs some grass once everyday but I am concerned about worms.
I'm sorry, I probably sound really stupid but I was wondering if someone could explain how worms and grass work for me please xD?

To be honest, if you have got indoors guinea pigs that go on the lawn only in summer, worming is not necessary. In all the years I have had my own piggies, I've never had a problem, nor have there been many cases on this forum where there has been suspicion of a worm infection - and that in view that we see hundreds of enquiries in our Health/Illness section in just a year.

De-worming is really only necessary if there is suspicion that your piggy has got worms or as a prevention if your piggies have access to the lawn round the year.
If you are really worried, please consult your vet whether he thinks that a regular treatment with a de-worming product is advisable. There is no rodent specific de-worming product available.

Please keep your guinea pigs off any areas that dogs and foxes can/doo pee on; fresh pee can kill guinea pigs.

Thank you very much, you are really helpful . I only recently adopted the guinea pigs so am not sure if I will give them grass all year round but I may ask my vet for advice like you said.

My vet is really piggy savvy and keeps her own guinea pigs - I asked her if I should worm mine and she shook her head and said no - very rare that they will ever get them - and am sure you would see them in their poops if they did.
