Sadly, yesterday we had to say goodbye to our sweet girl Peggy. The last of our Little Pips Rescue piggies. Peggy was over 7 years old and had been with us for more than 5 years. She has outlived her long time friend Mavis and husboar Georgie. More recently she has taken two young skinny pigs (Rosie and Val) under her paw and taught them how to be proper piggies. Especially what was good to eat and how to chew the cage bars until you get treats. She had a great zest for life and except for arthritis was blessed with good health.

Unfortunately, her arthritis had become so severe in the past week that she had problems even lifting her head. All treatment options had been tried but she was still in pain. We were sad to say goodbye to Peggy but could not see her suffering. We will miss her very much.😢

Popcorn free across the rainbow bridge. Lots of your friends will be waiting for you my beautiful girl.💕🌈🐾

What a lovely tribute to a special piggy.
She clearly had a wonderful life filled with love and Peggy will leave a big hole in your heart.
Be gentle with yourself as you grieve.
Hugs 🤗

Sorry for your loss. 7 is a grand age, no doubt due to the love and care you gave. Her happiness shines through in the photos you posted. Sleep tight Peggy x

What a wonderful long life Peggy has had. :luv:
It doesn't lessen the pain of her loss but at least you know that you have done all you could.

Galloping arthritis at the end of a long life is sadly not all that rare. Brathlys also had it; had she not passed away naturally on last Saturday morning, I would have had to book her in for pts this week. :(

I'm so sorry you have had to make that decision for Peggy, she would have known how much you loved her,Sweet Dreams Peggy with all the other piggies, plenty of grass.

I am sorry you had to make such a difficult decision but it is done out of love even though we are left with the pain of having to say goodbye. She had so very many happy days with you and will now be having many more as she joins her friends at the bridge. Sending hugs
Popcorn free little one 🌈

I deeply sympathize with the loss of your beloved piggy, and I can sense the affection you held for her in your touching tribute. It's evident that Peggy enjoyed a wonderfully long and joy-filled life. During this time of mourning, remember to be kind to yourself. May Peggy rest in peace.

Thank you for all your kind words. It has been a hard year for us. We have lost 3 of our 4 oldies to age related illness and our beautiful Pol to Pyometra. Sadly, our last old girl Dora is now quit frail too. I think in our hearts we saw this coming but it doesn't make it an easier or the grief any less.

Dora, Ginger, Peggy and Mavis were the start of our piggy family, so this is the end of an era for us. We have learnt so much from them. Especially that each day there is love, food, warmth and companionship is a happy day. ❤️❤️

Me and John send big hugs to you both, we are so sorry. Time will heal and all those happy memories will creep back in and replace your sadness x
