Okay, I have a really weird question, but I didn`t find anything on the matter, so here goes
Is it possible for teeth chattering to be not-bad? I ask that because I`ve noticed weird behaviours on my two piggies, Porca and Cookie.
So the story goes like this: I've been training them to come when called by offering slices of Cucumber, which they absolutely love. Cookie is super responsive and almost always come when I call. Porca not so much, because of all that old trauma.
When I call for Cookie, I click my tongue about five times, call her name in a high pitch voice, and then rub my fingers. She smells the cucumber in the air and runs to me, in a timid and 'scaredy' way. Sometimes, I hear Porca chattering her teeths in her hideout (which is a shoebox), she just stays there, chattering her teeth and watching Cookie eating from my hand. I grab another slice and I approach my hand to Porca, then she slowly comes out and eats it.
It's useful to point that Porca is NEVER the first one to come when I call. She only comes if Cookie is already eating from my hand.

I have also noticed two times that, when I was petting Cookie, Porca began to chatter, as if she was jealous and wanting attention too. Then I rubbed her chin and she calmed down.

But sometimes, It's Cookie that teeth chatters at me. This happened right now, which sparked me to ask here. I sit on the floor in front of her, as I always do, click my tongue, rub my fingers, and call her name, and she teeth chatters. It took half a minute for her to come.
I've noticed that sometimes Porca does that too, without anyone coming to eat from my hand. When I call Cookie (tongue clicking, finger rubbing), Porca just chatters a little in the distance for no reason. It's pretty random. Which is weird, since they're already used to my presence. I had Porca for about 3 months, and Cookie for 2 months.
I've also noticed that they chatter their teeth right after I click my tongue.

So
the questions I raise here are:
Is it possible that they teeth chatter out of jealousy?
Is it possible that my tongue-click and my finger rubbing is making a similar sound to teeth chattering, and they sometimes feel the need to chatter back? And if so, what are the sounds you guys make to call your guinea pigs?

Maybe? I really don't know. I only use a certain call for one animal. For guinea pigs i use a high pitched voice saying "Wick wick." For my dogs I use clicking. So maybe the signalify it as a good thing?

Mild teeth chattering is an expression of displeasure. It is most likely because Porca is not happy about your training.

Mine hear tongue clicking as a threat and chatter back. I've had to get out of the habit of doing it, I realise I always did it to get the attention of my cat and my friends dogs but my guinea pigs don't like it! My guineas also chatter at me if I don't fetch their food fast enough, at tummy o'clock "don't stop to tell us how beautiful we are, just get in the kitchen and fetch food". The piggy whispering thread is brilliant advice for helping you make friends, I use the tips a lot and return to it often to refresh my memory. Good luck, you are doing a great job with those piggys, guinea pigs can be such complicated little individuals.
