What would be a good size cage/aquarium for a guinea pig. I've heard 30"Long by 12" wide by 12" high, but I just want to make sure.

30" x 36" is the minimum size for one guinea pig. here take a look at this. http://guineapigcages.com/ you should consider getting C&C cages. they are easy to customize, much more spacey, lots of people on here have them so they can help you if you have any questions, and they also cost less then store-bought cages. have you considered getting a second guinea pig? your guinea pig may get lonely and won't be as happy as he/she possibly can.:(

Thanks! :). And I have, yet they're sort of expensive, and I don't have tons of time, and there's no rescue shelter in my area as I've explained. Anyways, Can anyone help me with a C&C cage?

It tells me

Wait, never mind.

Anyways, is there any good cages that I can buy? I want to evaluate all my options.

I honestly can't find a good sized cage found in the US. If you really want one of those, the only thing I think you can do is get it shipped over here. Another option is to consider having your guinea pig live outdoors in a hutch. But that would be a lot more costly...=/

Well, I'll look and put a few cages that I find okay on here.

Thanks any ways.

the size is not big enough and it costs ALOT! you could get a nice big C&C cage for that price. i think the best option would be GO FOR A C&C CAGE!:)

Is there any ways to make it without buying the kit? I mean, my parents don't want to buy anything online.

You really ought to consider getting 2 guineas. I know that you think that will be more work - it will be very little more work and will be so much better for your guinea pig in terms of emotional and physical health. Most guinea pigs are very sad on their own and can pine so badly. They don't act normally and aren't as much fun as when they have a friend.

Wild guinea pigs travel in big herds so that they can relax from time to time while the others are on look out. Lone guinea pigs don't feel that they can ever relax and as a result get very low.

In terms of expense it really isn't much more once you have the guineas.

Cage wise - you may need to order something on line. If you do a search for a couple of brands you may find somewhere that delivers to you. There is the fernplast one above, then Nero 4 and rabbit 120 or 150.

As for C&C I got my grids in Costco and I know you have those in the states, give one a call if you have one locally. On that site guineapigcages.com they list lots of US suppliers I think. Also coroplast I think is readily available from any signmaker in your area or again online if you do a bit of searching. It will allow you to make a big cage at minimal cost with a bit of imagination.

Good luck with it all and have fun!

I've just looked at that Bed Bath & Beyond link..... I can't believe how cheap they are in the US! I've just driven all round Leicester looking for some to make a run out of and couldn't find any! I've bought an indoor/outdoor run for my piggies instead from Pets at Home.

I'd recommend at $14.99 a pack, you should go with the C&C cage.

Okay, anyways, I'm not going to do the C&C because I just realized that I have an 80 (or 50, I really don't know) gallon aquarium. I think it's big enough.

aquariums are generally not suitable for guinea pigs due to the poor ventillation, this means that they will not get enough fresh air and also it can get very hot!

Thanks! Anyways, I've decided to have my mom buy a c&C on ebay.

Does this look good? http://cgi.ebay.com/LARGE-C-C-CUBE-...in_0?hash=item45edc7378e&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Yes, that looks good to me :) I think maybe you could make it yourself cheaper than that though, if you had somewhere that sold the kits near you. (Eg the Bed Bath and Beyond kit has more panels, but less connectors, then the ebay one, but you could buy 2x kits from Bed Bath and Beyond to get enough connectors, it would be cheaper than the ebay one). Then you would just need to get the coroplast from a sign makers.

The cost would all depend on whether you live somewhere where you can find the kits and the coroplast.

Yes, I could make it myself, but I don't want to screw up.

lol.

they are super easy i am pretty sure an intelligent guinea pig could put together their own cage!

Yes, but I am not an intelligent guinea pig. lol.

And there's no place close to me that sells the kits.
