I'm thinking about getting a little mini vacuum cleaner to do the twice daily poo pick (my boars poo so much!). I've been using a little dustpan and brush but it's not really that effective.

Can anyone recommend a good mini vacuum cleaner that I could use? Don't want to spend too much money since I'd imagine the poos, wood shavings (that fall out from their litter tray and hay would be pretty tough on the machine!

The only one we had sucked up the fleece which caused more issues :)) Especially with a 'special needs' piggy with no fear that thought it was another pig to play with :))

Hopefully someone will pop up with some suggestions

the one I have is black and decker wet dry 6 volt, you don't want anything over a 6-7 volt or it will suck up the fleece

That's the sort of thing I was after- might give my local second hand pages a try. Wet and dry could come in quite useful for the clumsy children too!

I bought a 6v HOOVER handheld hoover for the same thing but it was awful! It was so noisy scared my lot to death plus it never really sucked up any hay but if it did manage too then it would wedge itself so the flap that was supposed to stop things falling back out just stayed open  I've gone back to the good old dustpan and brush :)

I have a wet and dry hand held Hoover. It's made by von Haus (I think) will try and find a pic on line. I use cage liners and it lifts the poops great.

image.webp This is mine exactly. It's the 2nd one like this I've had (last one lasted a year and then gave up the ghost) but I had 4 piggies (boars) all on fleece cleaned up to 3x a day. So it lasted well. (Also I forgot to put filter bit in once and used it! Oops. Hay got into the motor and it burnt out. Shh)
It does tend to clog with hay at the nozzle but you just empty it if it clogs and it's good to go again. I try and pick up the majority of hay by hand/scoop. Then it doesn't clog as much. Also brush off the filter regularly.
