So when I rescued my boars,(Two pigs) the owners gave me a 2 by 3 C and C cage. I'm confused whether or not that a safe size since people on this forum have been saying that commercial cages such as the midwestern and XL Living world cage are good sizes for two piggies, yet they are smaller than a 2 by 3. I have been wanting to have my dad make an extension for their cage but I'm still waiting. Should I just keep a 2 by 3?

No.

While this is the minimum for two sows, it is not for two boars as boars are more territorial.

Two boars should ideally be kept in a 2 x 5.

guineapigcages.com has a good size chart for sows. For boars, you’ll need to add one extra 1 x 2, ideally.

Now my only problem with extending the cage is that I can't add C and C grids horizontally so I've been thinking of making an L kind of shape with the cage. I'm trying not to go too pricey since my parents don't already want to spend even more money. Maybe you can recommend more places with better prices. At the moment I'm looking at fleece HELP.

An L shaped setup should be fine. As long as they have the floor space equivalent to a 2x5 setup (10 grids floor space) :)

Okay, thanks guys. Also, do you recommend good priced fleece? I'm deciding whether I should buy fleece or to start using puppy pee pads since My piggies aren't fully litter trained and I might even save some money since pee pads are really cheap. I've been trying to get my dad to make an extra shelf for the cage extension since it's on an unmovable shelf and I can't exactly move the shelf/cage anywhere else. He's taking quite a long time since he's got his arms full with other projects. At the moment I'm trying to take my pigs out for long floor time, about two times a week so they don't sit in their cage as much. I try to provide them actives as much as possible to distract them from the fact that they have a small cage.

It is nearly impossible to litter train guinea pigs, unfortunately!

Cotton fleece & non-pilling fleece - buy fleece fabrics » myfabrics.co.uk has fleece for as low as £4.45... I don’t know much about UK fabric stores, though, as I’m not actually from the UK.

While potty pads are cheap, you have to replace them, and the cost will add up. Also, fleece liners are softer, and preferred by most guinea pigs.

Those things are exactly what I did when I was waiting to upgrade their cage!

A good cage size for two boars would be 3 x 5 but if you can make it bigger, the more happy your little piggies will be!

My pigs are currently on fleece and they have a corner trey which they tend to use. I live in the U.S though so... I obviously can buy anything with euros.
