Well I have decided to change the monster cage again and want some input.

I have taken Dolly out of the cage as she has a couple of scratches. I am considering her future

I have decided that the bottom 2 floors of the 4 x 2 are becoming 4 x 3's and the others will get the bottom 2 floors. The top floor will be a 4 x 2 still and be dollys It will get a small snug area too. BUT Do I

a) leave Dolly on her own, she seems absolutely fine on her own and is confident and moves around more than she did with all the others

b) put on of the other 6 girls with her - I am thinking Flopsy as I can keep a closer eye on her. She seems the perfect candidate as she stays mostly on the top floor anyway, she's kind and doesn't t seem to be fussed on being in a big group

c) give Dolly 3 x 2 and put grids down to leave a 2 x 1 space for all the others to come and say hello (my least fav option)

Thoughts much appreciated - I couldn't sleep last night for thinking about it and got up at 5.45am to check on Dolly....

If I were you I would pick the pig she gets on best with which I am guessing is Flopsy and keep them together as it's nice to have company :), then again she could enjoy being on her own.

Good Luck Lisa... it should be fun for you and don't forget pigtures. :)

I had to split my large group (i had 12) a few months ago, as Lopy was getting picked on badly by my other boar. I put him in with one of the girls who was elderly, and not as contented in the big group as she used to be. He did really well, his weight went up, and he was just so much happier.

So definately buddy her up - i know if it were me I would be tempted to get another piggy . . . .

Oooooo Lisa, what plans!

I like the idea of the 2x4 with her and another piggie in. I wouldn't leave her on her own personally. I think Flopsy is a good choice :) Dolly can snuggle in all that hair!

My other thought would be Orson as you said she follows him around (maybe she's smitten?) but then the concern would be with him focussing all his attention on her she might find it too stressful, I think he'd be better left with the herd.

Yeah cmon peeps you know i'm weak!

I need to control my numbers! Hopefully Flopsy will work out as she's having a try in there with Dolly.

The cage is half done. Cy is doing it - I am drinking wine :))

Photos later!

Tell Cy to hurry up we want pics :))... and can I have some wine?!

Yes do join me for a glass. It's fiano, I lurveeee fiano wine.

Cy is starting to look like a man possessed and my living room like a bomb has hit it. None of the guineas have had veggies yet, i'm waiting until they are IN.

I reckon half an hour left....

Gotta love C&C (and Fiano)

Yes C & C is wonderful especially when your doing nothing but drinking... I wouldn't mind that either :p....

Well Flopsy being in there lasted about a minute and half before DOLLY attacked her. She was like "GET THE HELL OUT OF MY HOUSE!"

So right now she's alone in a 2 x 4 with 2 beds, 2 bowls, 2 hay racks and she loves it. Weird!

That is EXACTLY what I called her! She is a total diva. You should see her hopping about her spacious home and eating and eating and eating!

Right the home

It's flippin' HUGE. Honest it's the biggest thing in my living room and completely dominates the room. My friends think I am weird already this seals the deal!

So Dolly - leave her on her own? I think it might be wise... I could bring home a baby and she will karate kick her out of her space!?!

That looks fabulous. Well done Cy. And well done Lisa for cheering him on with the aid of wine. :(|)
Looks like Dolly might be a little minxie. Love her though. x)

AWW thanks! The cage looks mini but honestly its flippin' HUGE!

Dolly is a right little miss, not sure what to do with her yet. She seems happy on her own.

You could always get her a neutered boar :))... It is strange though, maybe she wasn't so close to Flopsy afterall rolleyes. She may just like her own space, the little madam she is!

The home is wonderful... I love it! Well done Cy!

I have passed on your thanks to Cy, he has worked tirelessly on it - he's a real star. Today he makes the trays removable as they currently aren't. It's very difficult to get into the back corners now it's a 3 x 4. Although I am loving the space they have it's alot of room for them to run about in. Orson does laps every night so now he can really go for it.

Dolly is still puzzling me. She was so meek in a group but put her one on one with another guinea and she turns into an angry ninja (she kicks out sideways with her back legs). Going to keep her like she is and monitor her closely for now.

LISA! TEN WAS YOUR LIMIT! REMEMBER? Hahaha! Get another... Go on.... I dare you ;)

Ooooo diva! Strange... You could try Orson? Now she's shown she can stand up for herself, maybe she wont find him stressful when she's in season?

Cage looks fab! Well done Cy :) He's so good!

The cage is amazing! I think they prefer two larger levels to three smaller even though the actual living space is the same. More space for laps :)

As for Dolly and companionship... I haven't had piggies for very long, but it that time I've only ever heard that piggies need companionship. Piggies don't necessarily like all other piggies, only too true when pairing up boys... Maybe Dolly is a tomboy :) Just because Dolly didn't work with Flopsy doesn't mean she's destined to be a lone piggy. I think you should try a few more before giving up on her, the last option being a neutered male.

On the other hand there are piggies who prefer solitude, but I think way less than what we think. Skinnies, and other breeds that have been bred quite far from the wild guinea pig, have maybe some characteristics of piggies (like that people can't be real friends) that are not as prominent?

I am reluctant to try a neutered boar as I think she got the scratches on her back from Orson mounting her. It will have to be a sow - but what if I take kimberleys bet (:)) ) and get her a friend only to find she's pregnant and has babies?

I know the chance is small as she wasn't in with the boar for long but still, it's a chance.

hmmmm i'm stuck!

I'd wait 2 weeks, by that time if she is pregnant she will be showing signs ie weight gain etc... I think, but then again I've never dealt with pregnant pigs but I would imagine there will be signs rolleyes...
