hello,

my boyfriend is currently redesigning the cages for the front room, so that they will be a feature (he figures that i will always have piggies, so it might as well be a feature of the frontroom!)

our chippy came round last night and said that he wanted to glue the joints as well as srew them in. he would be using pva glue. we wouldn't put the piggies in the cage while the glue was wet, but was just wondering if it is safe to use.

thanks :)

How are you creating the cage? C&C grids? homemade? or something else? I would try to avoid PVA, one, simply because its not that strong and two, i would worry about the piggies peeling it off and eating it.

x.

if the glue was hidden inbetween two bits of wood, or on the outside, somewhere the piggies can't eat it or get to it, i don't really see a problem,
But i don't see why you'd need glue anyway especially P.V.A :S

thanks guys. the glue wouldn't be visible and Steve and i don't see the point in using it, but Rob wants to glue the joints then scew them. he said it will make it more sturdy.

we will be making the cage out of wood and perspex. the legs for the cage will be made out of oak to match the rest of the boat. (we live in a large widebeam)

by the way if you are ever on the grand union south you will be able to tell our boat by the giant pictures of guinea pigs on the outside! :)p
