Hi, I am sure my girl Mabel had IC, we have had numerous rounds of antibiotics and no change. Flares up every few months and she’s screams going to the toilet both wee and poo and then blood. It then calms down for a few weeks and the cycle starts again. I have her on metacam. I have read Glucosamine can help but don’t know where to start with it or what one to buy. Any recommendations please that you’ve tried and worked? Thank you from a stressed guinea pig mom x

I’m not sure why it says new born pup as she is 2.5 years old

The most commonly used glucosamine supplement used for piggies for IC or arthritis is Feliway Cystease capsules, which can be purchased from online pet or vet suppliers. You mix the contents of a capsule with water and syringe it to the piggy. I'll see if I can find and link the guide.
I used Cystease for my arthritic piggies, but I found mixing it with water difficult so I used to sprinkle it on critical care or mushed pellets in a dish for them to eat. I hoped it worked just as well that way!

I can't find a guide, but the usual instructions are to mix 1 capsule of powder with 2 ml of water, shake well, and syringe 1ml twice a day.

Johnson 4joints liquid also contains glucosamine, though it has other things too as it's really for arthritis etc.
You might find Cystease in Pets at Home as well as online.

Ah ok, I’ve been using cystease from pets at home I didn’t even relapse this was glucosamine. I feel so sorry for her ☹️

New born pup is related to your status on the forum because you are a new member/have a lower post count. It’s not to do with the age of your piggy.
It will become teenage guinea pig, adult guinea pig etc as you make more posts on the forum.

Yes cystitis is no fun whether you're a guinea pig or human.
What amount of cystease have you been using and how often? I believe that at the start of a flare you can double the dose. Have a search of the forum for previous IC cases to see what others have found helpful.

Oh ha 😂, I was thinking I’m sure I didn’t select that!
