Senior Guinea Pig
One of pigs has arthritis, & I wonder if glucosamine would help. If so l assume you get it from a health shop but I’ve no idea what dosage do I give him.
I didn’t think of pain relief I just thought the glucosamine would be enough to fix it. What an idiot l have been keeping Guinea pigs for about 8 yrs. I can’t believe I didn’t think of that. Vets first thing tomorrow.I am not one of the forums health experts but we have 3 piggies with arthritis and they all have 4Joints liquid (0.4ml once a day). This was recommended by TEAS who use if for their piggies at the rescue. I can honestly say that it has made a difference but you have to be patient as it takes a few weeks before you will notice any improvement. I assume that your vet has also prescribed Metacam or another pain relief drug.
With the Metacam and 4Joints our skinny pig Ginger has gone from dragging around his back legs to moving normally. Ginger has arthritis and also the cartilage in his knee joints has mineralised so we were not expecting that he would be so mobile again.
