I have made most of my hutch, but wondered could I used gloss paint on the back wall of the hutch? The guinea pigs wouldn't be able to chew it because it will be on flat ply wood? Or any ideas what I could paint the hutch with, that is safe for the guinea pigs? The only colours available it the wood preserves are dull browns etc 98) :smitten:

Is it on the inside of the hutch? Would it be possible for you to line it instead? Maybe with lino or correx? Gloss paint usually has quite a high VOC (the smelly chemical) content and it's harmful if inhaled or ingested. Not sure if there are safe alternatives.

i dont know if it is across the board with animals but I have parrots and gloss paint is a DEF NO NO with them
as you stated because of the fumes ?

xx

Hi there, P&H sell hutch paint but I also spoke to the rep at Cuprinol Paint (ICI) who told me the only paint you should use on a hutch is their timber care range.
