My question is can I put the whole tray in their run for hour a day and let them nibble, jump in it and use as boredom breaker or if they wee and poo in it will it become contaminated then be bad for them? I can obviously cut it and give it cut but thought they would enjoy playing and eating in the tray. They often have cut grass form my neighbours garden but lately a cat has started hanging around so I have stopped giving it to them.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thank you.

It's probably best to cut it if you want it to regrow as your piggies will most likely pull the grass out of the soil. They will also most likely pee and poop on it which could lead to mould growth. :D

I would also recommend to cut-and-crop rather than letting the piggies eat it all right down (which they will in about half an hour!)
