Girls & Boys?

Dear all,

I currently have 2 female piggies (1 year old) and may be rehoming two more which are males and about 8 weeks old.

Obviously the 2 females will be housed seperately to the females but the question i have is will the females stress with the smell/noise etc of two boars being introduced into the home or would they be no more bothered if they were girls or boys?

I don't think that it will make much of a difference to them.

Make sure that the two pairs can see each other; that tends to set off the boys!
 
Just out of curiosity, why is it more beneficial for the boys to be able to see the girls Wiekbe or is it always best to let 2 sets of piggys see each other ?

the girls dont really make a fuss when the boys are near,its more the other way around,a neighbour of mine has 2 girls and brought one around,and my boys were squeeking like mad at her,
i think girls are quieter that boys,mine act like their on speed somtimes haha:(|)
 
I think Wiebke meant 'make sure the boys can't see each other' :)

It could make the boys fight if there are girls around. Sometimes they are ok with girls around, but it's a risk.

The girls won't mind if there are boys around, but best to keep them a bit apart so they can't see each other, for the boys' sake.
 
Thanks for your posts - at least that has given me something to think about.

I have the option to home a pair of sows or a pair of boars as I cant take them all but i feel that It may be better to go with the sows as I already have 2 sows!

At least that way I can introduce them to each other eventually with the possibility of them all living happily together eventually !
