Hey all! How are you all and your piggies doing?

I forgot to pick up the plastic bag which was right next to his cage after was done changing his kitchen area. He ate small piece of white plastic bag right now. He usually chews on his cage but since it was so close to cage he started nibbling on it. And parts of bag are gone maybe like 0.7-1cm or less.
Should I be concerned? Will he be able to digest it ?:(

Thank uuu all

It sounds like he ate a small amount, I think he should be just fine. It's not an uncommon occurrence. One of my guinea pigs many years ago did something similar and he was totally ok. I would just keep an eye on his poops and make sure he's not acting odd for the next few days. If he stops pooping, starts making noise while trying to use the bathroom or feels bloated, I would contact a vet immediately. These are just precautions though as he will most likely be able to digest the small amount he ate. I wouldn't panic 🙂 I'm not an expert, but like I said the same thing happened to me years ago and I know that this is a very common issue that most piggies deal with just fine.

I know piggies are rodents and all, but I will never understand what makes plastic bags so delicious! 😆 I can understand chewing and eating wood, but plastic seems just gross 😀 I guess my human taste buds just don't get it.

Thank you for your reply! I'm relieved.
Yeah right! Idk why they like plastic :D he usually eats his wooden toys and I used to get worried about it too but I realized they do it and theyre just fine :D

Both my boys have eaten quite a large piece of black plastic and both were fine. I’m sure yours will be too. Keep an eye on him just in case.

Keep an eye on him, he will likely be fine though.
One of my has chewed the rubber edge off my dustpan - he did it within seconds, fastest I ever see him move is when something he shouldn't have is nearby!

My Ebony and Oliver have both eaten pretty sizable pieces of plastic bag. Make sure they get lots of hay to help push everything through and they'll most likely be fine :)
