Took Inca back to the vet to have his stitches check, but he had pulled them out himself:0
As the boys have got on & now they seem to be at each others throats he suggested that the more aggresive one is castrated.
He said it might help but in some cases it doesn't.
Has anyone had this done to one of their boys & what was the outcome?
There in separate cages & runs at the moment but both look very sorry for themselves & lonely, so would like to get them back together.
The only other way i can think is to split their cage in two with mesh including the run. If i have to do this then the cage & run will probably have to be modified greatly as they don't have an ordinary hutch but a chicken houserolleyes

I've always heard that castrating guinea pigs has no effect on their behaviour whatsoever - all it does it affect their ability to reproduce! If that's the only reason you're considering getting him neutered then I personally don't think there's any point.

How old are your boars? Unfortunately it's quite common for clashes to suddenly occur when they reach their hormonal stage of development. Many people here have experienced this so I'm sure you'll get lots of good advice on that. Good luck with finding a workable solution :)

Castration doesn't alter a boars behaviour, just his ability to make babies!

If there has been a need for stiches I would separate them... How old are they? Sometimes boars can be reintroduced once the hormones have settles and sometimes they can't. Then castration is a good idea because very few boars object to living with a wife :)

Neutering doesn't drastically change behaviour, only the ability to reproduce.
Having boars neutered is only of use if you want them to live with a girl each. A cross gender pairing is generally the most stable of all pairings - but it comes at the risk of an operation. Spaying sows is an even more invasive op and rarely performed for other than medical reasons.

If there have been bloody fights I would recommend separating as they usually won't get together again and keep on fighting.

If you do not wish having both neutered, the alternative is to have your boys living side by side so they can still interact through mesh/bars but can't fight anymore.

There about 14-15 months old.
I will probably looking at putting them side by side separated with mesh, which was my 1st thought. It's only what the vet suggested that might help.
If most experiences for this is only for them to stop breeding & it doesn't really effect the behaviour then, no, it won't be worth doing.
Thanks for the replies.
