So I recently adopted a two year old male guinea pig from a friend who no longer had time for him. He was in a tiny cage and has never been with another pig. He's now in an appropriately sized cage but I'd like to get him a friend. The only shelter near me that takes guinea pigs is the humane society, so I spoke with them and brought Reese in for a guinea pig meet with the only pig they had for adoption. They didn't get along - dominance issues. I'm on a wait list for a younger or more docile male but I'm worried I'll never find the right fit. Do you think he could be ok on his own? He's such a sweet boy and seems very happy and comfortable now that he has room to run around and gets interaction with me and my family, but I'm not sure what to do about finding him a friend!

If you are limited with rescues then there is not much you can do really. You could go to a pet store but you wouldn't get support with bonding and you could run the risk of getting a mis-sexed female.

If your piggy otherwise seems happy and is eating, drinking etc normally and not losing weight then you should be OK and hopefully a suitable buddy will come in soon. I would probably ask the rescue to call you the second any male comes in so you can keep trying him and increase his chances of finding a friend more quickly
