so because i cant control myself, i got another pig today! he's so ickle, and he's beautiful. i'll get a picture up later, i'm just hoping everything works out with the 3 of them together...he's much smaller, and I'm hoping that they'll just let him be. it's interesting to see another pig added to the mix, definitely changes the dynamic. how long should dominance behavior last? there's lots of humping/chasing going on, and i just want the poor thing to get some peace. roger is surprisingly being the more aggressive one, even though piglet is "top" pig. any advice? :{

Roger is probably being the aggressive one to make sure he ends up 'on top' (figuratively speaking!) of the newcomer- he probably sees it as his change to move up a notch on the totem poll! Hope things settle down and everyone gets along! I would LOOOOVE to get another pig or two but my husband would hit the roof! LOL!

What are the ages of your three boys? The vast majority of male trios fail and end up fighting at some stage, fingers crossed this won't happen to yours. As they go through the strongest hormonal stage at 6-10 months this is the most likely time for fall outs. They are hormonal from 3-15 months so do be aware that it can be a long time before they settle down.

It is usually the piggy just above in the hierarchy that is showing the biggest dominance behaviour to make sure that the newbie will know his place! Dominance lasts until every piggy is satisfied with they way things are.

However, with three piggies under a year, your chances of having an outsider problem or a serious fall out until they are all safely mature adults with settled hormones have increased a lot. The bigger a boar group, the less stable they are.

thanks for the advice! they seemed to have accepted Georgie. He had to put up with a lot of mounting and chasing, but eventually they got all tuckered out, and he settled in to their pen without any problems. it was actually really funny-i let them play in the pen until i went to bed, and when i was going to bed i put him in his seperate cage to be safe. well roger wasnt having it! he stood up against the bars and wheeeeked at the top of his voice, and georgie was on the other side of the bars touching noses and wheeking back! so i decided to put them back all together and now they're happy little pals! it was very cute.
oh to answer Suzy's queston, piglet and roger are close to 5-6 months, and george is much smaller and younger. he's half their weight and size. i dont know how old he is...ill post a pigture, and you guys can give me an idea!

If you give his weight in grammes it is a more accurate way of determining age of a little one than a pic (though pics are always wanted too, even if just for the cute factor).

here's my Georgie :) He weighs 416 grams. how old do you think he is?

400g would be 6-8 weeks old, depending if he was from a small or large litter.
