I am going to view a house on friday. It has a teeny back garden, not big enough for my 5 hutches.
Was wondering if anyone keeps their piggies/rabbits in the garage?
We would not be putting a car in there (so no fumes) and it has a window for ventilation.
Thanks x

hi i havent got a garage but was rading th other on a web page the other day that its ok and becasue there be ventillation and no fumes it should be ok the piggies i got from a breeder the other day had all hers in the garage aslong as it ot to hot in there i supose go for it

hmmm truthfully i would be worried about excessive heat or very cold temps, its good that there wouldnt be a car in there but also with only one window it still may be very dark, personally i would keep looking or maybe bring the piggies and buns inside? x

Ours live in the garage, it is a brick built one and have to say it has been cooler in there over these hot days than in the house or garden! We have fitted an inner mesh door to the little door for added ventilation. Its working well for us but may depend on what the garage is made of?

As i said i havent viewed house yet, but i have been told it has access from the house (its on the bottom, and the house is 3 storey) and a window. it is brick built and at present is being used as a room. Fingers crossed that its what we need as Del (my bf) has to move very soon, and really want to be with him x

Yes we keep pigs in the garage which is underneath our house (a coach house). It's really cool in there at the moment and doesn't get too cold in winter either. As long as it's not too dark I'd say it's a good place.

We're going to convert it into an extra bedroom though soon so will have to look into getting a shed instead, and worry a lot more about them being too hot/cold :(

Debbie (furryfriends) had her piggies in her garage when she was selling her house & they were fine. :)

From how you describe it as being used as another room i'd think it be no different to keeping piggies in a room within your house. I have 2 indoors, in the spare bedroom, it's obv brick built & has only one 1 window :)

Thanks everyone for the advice. Obviously i wont know til i view the house, but wanted to check it was an option. It is a large house, but has a teeny garden.. they will still obv get as much run time as now, and still have playtime, just will be "put to bed" as it were in the garage.
I am really hoping this house is ok, its top of the budget, but means kids would not have to move schools. they REALLY want to stay at the school they are at now.
Thanks again and will let everyone know how it goes! :)
