Gabapentin medication

Hi, Cowboy was put on Gabapentin for pain relief. He has been squeaking while pooping and jumps as it hurts. The vet took Xray and there is a possibility it is arthritis. Dosed out .25ml every 8-12 hours and I wonder about others' experiences with a guinea pig on this medication.
Cowb is still active, eating, drinking, 'playing with his sister' but when he poops he is in pain and there is no obvious cause from an x-ray.
