Can anyone help? My girl went to the vets yesterday because she had diarrhea and previous to that she had a bloated tummy! Her tummy is soft and fine but not eating much. The vet gave her fibre ex to have 3 times a day. This morning i got her out and her fur is falling out.

Most importantly, make sure you are syringe feeding either critical care or mushed pellets.

Also that you are weighing her daily so you can be sure you are syringe feeding her enough to keep her weight stable each day.
If she isn’t eating any (or some but not enough) hay then it’s essential you are feeding her every two hours and aiming for a minimum of 60ml per day. The amount you need to feed is dependent on what each daily weight check tells you.

I’m not sure why this would be causing her hair to fall out. Perhaps there is something else going on medically which the vet needs to check

Thank you, I'm already doing the mushed up pellets as I don't have the critical care, she's doing really well with that and eating a fair bit when I'm feeding her, she's nibbling hay so not sure how much but feeding her regardless.

Back to the vet tomorrow I think.

Make sure you are doing those daily weight checks - that is your way to know what she is eating

Yes that would be a good idea

Hi

Is this on the back? I would have her checked for potential mange mites. They are opportunists that can come up when the immune system lowered for some reason. Many piggies have a reservoir of eggs in their that are usually kept under control by a fully working immune system. This is however just a guess without having access to your poorly piggy.

I do second the need for weighing daily first thing in the morning for best day to day comparison (the daily weight swing is at its lowest at that time) so you can then plan the appropriate level of support for the coming 24 hours.

Thank you! I'm getting her in the vets tomorrow so hopefully it's something easy to treat and explains why she is down and not eating well, does that mean all the other piggies will need treating aswell? I have noticed her itching and she's is a fan of sleeping in the big piles of hay!
