Hey, my very recently bereaved guinea pig has started to make this noise when petting her. I can’t tell if she’s enjoying it or not. She lays flat and eats while I pet her and does not try to run away or anything. Just a little confused as to why she’s started making this sound now.

Just realised it won’t let me upload a video of her. It’s like a whining sound or a scratched record sound if that makes sense

Hi and welcome

We are not part of social media and are run entirely by voluntary member donations as a non profit. This means that we do not have a video upload. It is the price we pay for being in full control of our forum.

You need to upload your video on another platform on a public setting that doesn't have a membership sign-in (like for instand you-tube) and then copy across.

You need to download your video onto a social media platform then share it on here (I think? Sorry, tech dinosaur...)
I'm not the most experienced person but generally I go by their body language combined with the noises. My boys often seem to be telling me about their day by making whinging noises but totally relaxed and obviously happy. It is possible that she's telling you all the things she used to communicate with her companion.

I put videos on YouTube and then link them, it's free and easy to do.
If your pig is relaxed and chewing then I doubt the sound is anything negative, she is probably just chatting with you. As she's recently bereaved, she is probably looking to you for social contact since she doesn't have a piggy companion.
