Went in this morning to feed my pigs and I noticed my sow has something wrong with her eye. The bottom eyelid is a bit droopy and the eyelid itself is a bit red. Was just wondering what this could be and if it's something that can be dealt with at home? her other eye Is completely fine. She was a bit more hesitant to walk up to me this morning so the picture isn't great (do apologise).

Eyes are classed as same day emergencies with vets. You don’t need an exotics vet - any small pet vet can deal with an eye problem, but eyes can deteriorate very quickly, so it’s definitely not something to try to treat at home.

Your vet will probably perscribe either of the two drops I currently have for my Mocha. Next step would be a topical ointment if the eye drops do not fix the issue. Attaching a picture of the eye drops my vet perscribed.

Looks like possibly conjunctivitis or some type of infection. Eye issues will not clear up on their own if infected.

Please see a vet as soon as possible and let us know!

That’s exactly what my vet gave me when one of my piggies had eye problems-just turned out to be a small scratch on his eye from his hay!
