Hello everyone!
Just wanted to start off by saying we have a vet appointment scheduled in 2 days. But wanted to see if anyone has dealt with anything similar and if there's anything I can do in the meantime to maybe help the itchiness, ect.
Piggy has some redness around the ears, and no where else on the body. I think it may have started from ear mites but I am not totally sure. I am new to the site so will try to figure out how to upload some photos.
The redness is concentrated around the back of the ears.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Once your registration is complete you will get the words New Born Pup under your name. Then you will be able to post photos.

Thank you for clearing that up! I was completely confused as to where the upload picture part was 😆

Hi and welcome

Do you also have rabbits? If not, then rabbit ear mites are basically not in the running.

As hard as it is to sit by and wait, please don't treat on spec. For your vet, it is like wiping the crime scene and leaving them any clues to go by for making a diagnosis. They are usually not overjoyed.

All the best. Whatever it is, it sounds like you have caught it early so once you know what is going on, you can then step in straight away with the correct treatment. Fungal, skin parasites or infections require different medication.
New piggy problems: URI - ringworm - skin parasites

The best way of uploading pictures on here is via the Attch Files button underneth your post when you write it. This works for all formats. Our forum is not part of social media (which means that we have full control over it) but it has a couple of technical drawbacks. You will have to wait until your registration is fully completed and you see the designation 'New Pup' under the avatar picture on the left.

Hello and thank you :)

I did have a rabbit but she did pass away about a month ago now. Yes I noticed it quite recently.
Overall she seems to be in good health otherwise, has a strong appetite, as do most piggies! Still running around happy.
She only seems to itch every so often, just makes me sad to think something is irritating her.

I am very sorry for your loss.

I would not exclude rabbit ear mites in your case but it could be other things. It definitely needs a closer look at and into ear. Be sure to mention that you have had a rabbit until a month ago to allow your vet to rule it in or out. At this stage, we can only play guessing games.

Hello and welcome to the forum. I am slave to Dignified Sir George and Mischievous Master Boris who are collectively known as The Beastie Boys.

I am finally able to attach the pictures. I think it looks fungal. But of course not sure. I'm sure the vet will be able to say after looking at her:nod:

Thank you! I will be definitely sure to mention about the bunny, we did take her to the vet when she got sick so I'm sure the vet will remember us from then

To clarify she has this no where else on the body only behind her ears, hope it's not to itchy cause we still have a few days till our vet visit :(

Please wait it out as long as she is not scratching herself bloody or develops a sudden head tilt.
