Hey all,

Is this a fungal infection?

The dime-sized black spot is originally from when he was bitten by his cagemate before I adopted him, but he has since been to the vet and finished a round of antibiotics. The vet told me that I should look out for a fungal infection in the area, which is why I started applying clotrimazole cream twice daily on the black spot. However, I'm still not 100% certain it's a fungal infection.

Any advice/comments is appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know if that's fungal. It looks like a wound that scabbed over. Were you given the clotrimazole by the vet? I would just take the piggy back for a check.

It looks more like a cyst to me, I would seek a second opinion from another vet if it were me x

That really needs to be seen by a vet.
It could be several things, and needs the correct treatment which can only be prescribed after a proper hands on examination.
I don't really understand why the vet would tell you to look out for fungal after a bite though - the two aren't really related.

Please take this piggy to see a vet. He needs hands on examination by a vet for diagnosis, treatment and the correct medication.

Hi!

Unfortunately because you have medicated, it is impossible to give any considered guesses because that will remove any of the telltale signs of it.

But have you and your vet considered a burst sebaceous cyst? Please have your piggy seen again.
