Hello everyone :)

I posted a few days ago about my two beautiful sows Fudge and Honeybear! They were refusing to get on (On my Fudge's side, not Honey's i'll add.) and we'd decided to take Fudge boar dating and to find Honey either a little sow friend for cuddles or a boar for companionship xx>>>

WELL! After making progress with planning two new cages (nice and big so my girls have adequate space for their new friends!) and deciding to keep our smaller cages for introductions or fallouts (as they seem to follow us around!) my Dad said to me today 'Shall we just let the girls have a little sniff and explore? see how they get on?'

Yes. I was dubious. After everyone's advice and from knowing my Fudge how I do my instant reaction was " :... " . BUT, I held onto Fudge and Dad held Honey. They sniffed for a while, bunted each other and then started chattering teeth - quietly though.
Anyway, we decided to move Honey into Fudge's bed for an hour and vice versa, so they could get used to all the smells of each other.

After ten minutes of kicking up bedding in Honey's bed and scent marking all of her toys, Fudge fell asleep. Honey went and curled up in Fudge's house and fell asleep too. They slept for two hours all cosy in each others houses and then we decided to swap them back.

Now i've got the cuddliest and sleepiest Fudge, who keeps popcorning round her bed and an equally soft Honey who is squeaking upstairs hoping to meet her new friend again.

DOES THIS LOOK LIKE PROGRESS? x):a19:

Please don't continue to split them up. They need to meet and stay together to settle differences really. Here's a better way to introduce the ladies. They sound like they are all ok to get proper introductions going if they were ok today.

Pop them both in neutral territory, not either of there cages. Some great places are, in a run in the garden, in the bathroom or kitchen maybe. Give them plenty of food, and hides with two enterances (eg tubes/archways) that way no one will get trapped in an iglu. Put them both in and leave them be. Providing there is no outright fighting and no blood is drawn then leave them be and get them a cage sorted for them both. Ensure it is fully disinfected and smells of neither pig and is big enough for both. Then put them in and over the next few days they should settle down and be fine.

Okay :)
they met for a few minutes today, had a little sniff and a little chat! We have more time to dedicate to them this afternoon/evening! So we'll see how it goes!

Fingers crossed!
Thank you for your advice x

I actually don't think swapping them round to get used to each other's smell was a horrible idea... Now they'll smell a little like each other, so it's kind of like a bonding bath, huh? :) So yeah, next step is definitely to get them together on neutral territory.

Yes! That's what I was going for :) It has really calmed Fudge down, she's even more affectionate with us at the moment which is really lovely. But it will be good to see them interact properly seeing as they've had time to adjust to each others smells. I'm hopeful :)
(As i'm typing this SpinningNickel Fudge is popcorning around her cage and squeaking away to herself xoxo )
