Does anyone know how to get guinea pigs to use water bowls instead of water bottles? I have not had any luck with that, they simply don't acknowledge that the water bowl is for drinking. The water bottle is very loud at night also with a holder. Thank you very much for any tips

I would try putting the water bowl directly under the bottle so they find it where they expect water to be and after a few days remove the bottle, they will figure it out. It may seem they are drinking less but water from bottles will always go down faster as some drips out while pigs drink.

I would not force guinea pigs to drink from water bowls just because they're loud. In my opinion, water bowls get dirty very easily. Bedding can get in them, food can get in them. They can also spill while the pigs run around the cage.

How about getting some ear plugs for yourself?

Water bowls need to be replaced every hour to 2 hours max so it's sadly not a practical way of doing it. The water becomes contaminated so quickly or tipped over and it's basically like having no water.

Have you tried other kinds of water bottle? Unfortunately this is the downside to having them in bedrooms :(

That's a great idea, thank you. I've already tried it one time but they didn't figure it out, maybe because it wasn't where the water bottle always was. They've just ''smelled'' the water, not trying to drink it. I'll try your method, thank you :)

Water bowl would only be used in the night, I didn't want to change it, just at night :) The problem is, that the new baby guinea pig is drinking loud. With her teeth she moves the ball inside and drinks a lot. It's seriously loud, that's why I wanted to try something other at night.

I wasn't thinking of changing to water bowls, I love bottles. It's just for the night :) I only found the metal ones. I don't know the other kinds. The problem is that the new guinea pig (a few months old) likes to drink A LOT of water and she drinks it in a way that with her teeth she pushes the ball inside the bottle and since it's of metal it's really loud. My other two pigs put the bottle inside their mouths and it's quiet :) I looked at other water bottles for piggies, but it looks to me like they are all the same? I heard that the Lixit Flip-Top Bottle is quiet, but it's still metal. I would really appreciate it if you know any ''quiet'' bottles and would suggest them to me :D

I have a noisy drinker too, I swear he does it on purpose as he lifts the bottle up and down too :))

I haven't heard of that one but the Ferplast sippy bottle might be worth a try?

I recently bought the water bottle you recommended. Do you have any tips on how to get the piggies to use it? They don't want to use it. It's been over a week :)
