With the recent sad loss of Eliza and now Emma's eye injury, I haven't been able to inform you sooner.
As some of you may know, my piggies have always been outdoor piggies. Living in various hutches from 2007 and since the summer of 2012, they have been living free range in a shed.
Since then, we have moved house in October 2013. We did bring the shed with us. Since Christmas however when Eliza started having problems again and with the awful wet and windy winter, the guinea pigs have been living indoors in a large dog crate.
The day before Eliza died, me and Chris had a long discussion and he agreed that the guinea pigs could stay indoors permanently but during the nicer weather, they will go outside in the hutch that is currently at my parents house (They are moving up here within the next few weeks so will bring the hutch with them).
Now I know that some people are not fans of two tier cages but in order for them to fit in the only space we have available, it was the only option I had.
So, Emma, Erika and Enoch are now living in a ferplast 120 double tier cage in our computer room. I have modified the ramp so it isn't so steep and the ramp tunnel I ordered has arrived today and I am pleased to say that they are currently zooming up and down the ramp exploring the second level of their cage They are also having a lot more free range time.
I'm just sad that Eliza isn't here to enjoy it
This is the cage that they have
