From large to small cage

Would it put stress on guineapigs to go from a large cage to a small one? Right now my pigs are in a cage that is 5feet by 5 feet and it's just getting to hard to look after, so I was thinking of down size to a 5foot by 2 feet. I have two pigs, so do you think it would put to much stress on them?
 
Think it's fair to say to say that any reduction in living space will affect them, but clearly if it's causing you too much trouble, I would gradually wean them into the smaller cage, say spending an hour or two and gradually increase it. A the same time, identify regular larger floor space, like an outdoor run, presuming they are indoor piggies, so they recognise it's a separate and extended run time.

I might get shot down by saying the above but that's what I would do.

I think at first they mightn't be too impressed, but they should be ok, 5X2 is still quite big, so hopefully they don't mind too much.

Like my pigs had much less space over the winter, because they had to be in the shed, and in the summer they had had a run attached to a double hutch, but they didn't seem to notice at all :)

Is it possible for the to have some time in a run, either indoors or outdoors, as a treat aswell?
 
Thanks! Yes I could gradually wean them as my cage is 1 foot panels to I cn just take a some off at a time, yes they are indoor pigs because with are weather I would be scared of putting them in shock with the dramatic changes,

I use to let them run around in a pen on my bedroom floor when they had there small 1x2 cage but I can always buy another set of panels and set it Joao they can go outside for a few hours each day or run around my bedroom in winter months

my piggies have gone down to smaller pens to they were'nt to impressed but do it gradually and it should lessen the effect say every clean out make it smaller. good luck
