From fleece to wood shavings

I have used fleece for the longest and the guinea pigs love it and i did at first but eventually started to hate it!

I switched from fleece to aspen bedding a few weeks ago and i thought i would hate but honestly i have been loving it.

I currently have 3 cages so doing laundry weekly for all those fleece, fleece tunnels etc.. was getting very hectic. Plus in NYC is very rare that a building has Laundry room we have to go outside and and paid to do the laundry. So imagine carrying those two heavy bags of laundry through the snow to go to laundromat to get them clean! yup, not happening lol.

What bedding do you guys use?

Mine are outside in a hutch and I use newspaper and then hay, hay and more hay on top. When I go on holiday I pop in a layer of aubiose on top of the paper and under the hay for extra absorbency so my piggysitter doesn't have to worry about cleaning them out.

I use fleece. I love it but yes there is a LOT of washing involved.

I weighed up the pros and cons of switching from wood shavings to fleece and decided to stick with the wood shavings.
My girls are perfectly happy and I don’t regret the decision even if it means frequent trips to buy them
