So Norman had a health check last night and his penis didn’t look right.. I’ve never come across frilly willy before nor did I realise anything about cleaning down there! I’ve watched some videos on pocket cleaning and I have a real phobia about holes, belly buttons etc so they made me feel really sick! I will of course do it if it’s needed but it horrified me! I never did this with any of my 7 previous boys (I did clean Freddie out when he got impacted but that was poop and easy to remove). Now I feel terrible that I never knew! Some on piggy Facebook groups have said it looks like frilly willy, others have said he needs cleaning, someone else said swollen… I gave it a warm water and olive oil clean last night and nothing came out but I was nervous so maybe I didn’t do it properly. It doesn’t look any different today. He is booked in vets at 6pm tonight to be sure and if they say it needs cleaning I’m going to ask them to do it and show me how. I’m hoping the pictures load so I can get your opinions. I have read the links on boar cleaning too. Ugh just the thought :vom:

Hi
Please check whether the penis has not fully retracted for some reason (sperm rod, a hardened build-up of smegma, hair getting into the penis sac etc or something pushing on the penis shaft from the inside of the body, including impaction, or simply the penis not properly retracting). It can happen.

The 'frilly' bit is part of the tissue from the sac into which the penis retracts that is sticking out. The penis itself is dark pink/slightly purplish.
Please check through the options with the help of our illustrated boar care guide and see a vet if the problem persists or gets worse. Here is the link: Boar Care: Bits, Bums & Baths

*update* he’s been to the vets.. he has frilly willy.. She had a good look in his pocket and pulled everything back… all nice and clean. Checked my other boy when I got home. He had a little bit of white sticky stuff in the pocket which I got out and he’s fine. The cleaning wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I gave Norman another clean after the vets and he’d sucked it back in! My husband said he’s embarrassed!
