The background story to this is i was admitted to hospital for a week over the new year.
I had walking.pneumonia,scarring on the lungs...pulmonary fibrosis.
Not knowing the cause of this, further tests will need to be done.
Since then everyone has an opinion on what i should do with my piggies.
Eg...youll have to get rid of your piggies ,youll have to rehome your piggies, etc.
I had a conversation with the specialist nurse, whom thinks its unlikely to be the guinea pigs.I wear a mask and gloves when I clean them out.
Now i digress ,why do people think thats its okay to tell me ,what to do with my guinea pigs.
.... why dont they rehome there children ,,dog , cat.🤣
Ive reduced my numbers to 9 guinea pigs which I'm managing and getting alot of joy from.

I’m sorry you have been unwell Eileen and I hope you are on the road to recovery

When I had my guinea pigs, some people said I should ‘get rid of them’ because they set my asthma off. Granted, animal fur does set it off but they were living in their own room so I wasn’t around them constantly but not once was it mentioned to ‘get rid of my cats 🤔 not that I would have done either but I just ignored those people. Just ignore them Eileen, people with that attitude are not worth your time or effort x

I really wish people would educate themselves and realise smaller pets are just as important as larger pets x

BIG HUGS

I am so very sorry about your respiratory problems and your own hospitalisation.

Like you, I have had several people telling me that I needed to get rid of my piggies over the last few months, so I feel for you. I am ever so grateful for all those who have gone out of their way (including my hub) to support him and me to make it possible to hang onto my furballs, especially @Qualcast&Flymo and @furryfriends (TEAS) . But I have also really appreciated the support and offers of help on here and from further afield.

My piggies are still important to me and a great source of solace even though I am currently not able to look after them myself between recovering from a hip replacement and my steroid 'wobbles' - I still can't crouch or kneel and any free-standing two-handed jobs are a strict no-no with my steroid/brain tumour balance issues. But I can do the piggy laundry again... :)

I totally feel for you and hope that you can get to the bottom of your own health problems.

Sorry to read about your health scares, I had noticed that you hadn't posted recently and wondered if you were ok. Hope you are on the way to better days. My piggies are a source of comfort to me so I do understand how you felt when you got those unhelpful comments. I was on the receiving end of similar comments a few weeks ago. Ignore them Eileen x

People like that dont matter and don't listen to what they say either x

I had lots of people telling me not to pay to get Waffle spayed for ovarian cysts because she's 'just a guinea pig' and it's not worth spending money on... i just ignored them, they don't know what wonderful massive personalities little piggies have. they're just as alive and full of value as any bigger animal ❤️

I feel your pain, my lungs became all sorts of messed up end of last year. It's very scary! Stay strong!

Some people lack emotional maturity and empathy. Unfortunately many are very quick to show that side especially when you're going through difficult times :/

I once met a lady walking her dog who knew I had guinea pigs. I hadn't seen her for ages and stopped for a chat. Her opening line to me was "Have you got rid of your guinea pigs yet and got a dog?" my reply was "No and I see you haven't got rid of your dog in favour of guinea pigs" She was most offended at that and thought I was very rude. Funny how she didn't think she was rude!
