I would love to let my piggies free roam my room the majority of time and only caged when we have small children around I know they have large cages but I still feel bad when I look at them. could I maybe put a gate in front of my of my door far enough that I have room to open and close it without hurting any piggies? I was thinking of using panels to block off any places I don't want them into? what do others use to protect their floor? advice or suggestions? I have two groups of piggies girls and boys I have 2 boys and two girls but the girls are really shy and caged for now in a roomy cage so I mainly want my boys out and one I've had longer than the other so he is very tame and mainly uses his litter box

What most people do is find an area that is free from anywhere to escape or that * can corner off.. like a hall way or bathroom floor and let their piggiea free roam their.
My piggiea personally week days have a few hours in their portable run in my room or on my bed... and at the week end or days off work i free roam the hall way or a section of the living room.... as for floor i tend to put down newspaper or a blanket of some kind.. Hope this helped x

Mine have the run of my bedroom, the upstairs hallway (with stairgate) and bathroom. In the evenings, I let out them out downstairs in the hallway and living room. Kenny has picked up the habit of nosing the bathroom door open and climbing into the towel rack - got a suprise yesterday sitting in the bath, went to get a towel and got a guinea pig instead. I have boxes in the bedroom and hallway filled with hay, water bowls scattered around as well. When they sleep, they just go in their cat carrier or the wardrobe. Given up with a cage in the day, it's just for night time. I just hoover up after them and shampoo the carpets if there's any mess.

Mine have all of the kitchen to free roam. We block off the side of the fridge with a box, but the rest of the area is covered in anyway. Jerry (somehow) is toilet-trained and will jump back into his cage when he needs a wee. In the evenings we pop his cage on the floor and he has all of downstairs to run around. He usually just has a crazy 5 minutes running around and then is happy to sit next to us, or on our laps. When he gets fed up he just jumps back in his cage for a nap. Frankie and Marley are younger and are a lot more destructive. I would fear for my cables and furniture if they had the living room to themselves!
