Finished setting up my two boys free range in m bedroom. The two by two area is where they stay at night. I would like to get some more piggies, but understand that a herd of boys might be too 'risky'? So I thought girls....I hate correx and don't use it so I won't be making any stacked c and c cages. I am thinking to either make a big 3x6 and half it or half my bedroom..? Ideas xx

Wow, what a lot of running around space for them, it must be fun watching them enjoying themselves. Are your boys both neutered? If so you might be able to create two groups of one neutered boy with one or more sows(girls) . Groups of more than two boys are not advised due to the increased chance of fights/fall outs, but having said that some forum members have managed to keep more than two successfully! If you are not keen on correx you may be able to substitute using lino or something similar.

Haha it would be fun watching them run around! Although they just stay in the two by two bit anyways. Lazy! They aren't neutered since they are bred from due to their breeds.

If I had a large bedroom like yours, they would have half my bedroom. What would you put on the carpet to protect it from wee's though

It's not just the mum.I have taken on two girls that have been pregnant and out of seven babies we have two surviving.It has been heartbreaking.I would never advise breeding .The mortality rate is around twenty percent.I am lucky in that both mums are doing fine.

There is a certain other piggy site & all the Time they are breeding, the amount of deaths of mums & babies is unbelievable. I was so disgusted I left the site. Piggies are NOT breeding machines

If you are thinking of having your two boys in one half of your room and girls in the other half of the room, I'm not sure whether that would work. Wouldn't the boys be able to smell the girls? They might then fight with each other and break their bond.

I have seen many people successfully having boys able to smell the girls and still bond. But your right, although I only thought they fight when causally in contact with females?

Not sure - I'm not an expert on it as our boy piggies live completely out of smelling distance of our girl piggies. They do all go onto the same lawn for grass time but I always put the boys run a fair distance away from the girl runs.

@PiggiesAreFam
I have removed 2 of your posts.
I have already given a warning about the discussion of intentional breeding on this page. This is a clear breach of forum rules. If any further mention of it is made then @BossHogg will be wielding his ban hammer without further warning.

Be warned, I am watching - ban hammer charged and ready. :twist:
