i’ve had noodle for a little over 2 years and she’s always been comfortable with me, but recently she’s been running around her cage a lot (not in a popcorn, playful way.) at first i thought that she was just doing zoomies and stuff like that but i quickly realized by the noise that she was terrified. it was like if there was a noise that scared her, but there wasn’t. i’ve noticed this has happened about 3 times in the span of 8 hours i would say. this also happened once yesterday if i remember correctly. also earlier when i went to check on her, i was giving her a handful of hay and my hand touched her and she freaked out and rushed to her hide. she’s never done anything like that before. i’d like to also mention that she lives alone in a midwest cage. she hasn’t had a friend in about a year and a half also.

They can hear things that we can’t so it’s possible she heard something And it has scared her. If you’re worried there is more to it, then a vet check would be a good idea.
She would also benefit greatly from having a new friend.

Guinea pigs have also got a much finer sense of smell than humans; it is one of their strongest senses but our weakest.
PS: Having somepig to snuggle up against when up upset is a major de-stressing factor, apart from the ongoing round the clock stimulation that group animals like guinea pigs need.

If in any doubt, please have her vet checked.

One of my guinea pigs does that occasionally. When I took him to the vets (for something else), the vet noticed he was starting to get a cataract. I wonder if he can't see as well and so is sometimes surprised by movement etc.
As others have said, guinea pigs need guinea pig friends

mine has done this on the odd occasion... like proper freaked out... then just returned to normal! my wine gets spooked by the tiniest strangest thing at times and we have had the longest...
