As i'm looking at double story hutches, will my pigs be more at risk from foxes? As they will be outside in the summer, they're currently in our garden room. I know obviously they have wired bars but can foxes still get to them?

you would need to make sure the bolts are sturdy enough should a fox try to remove them, mine have extra bolts on the bottom and top section of my two story. I do have a very temporary fence around the hutch, mostly to provide a no go area for the dog as I know it wouldnt stop a fox really and I am looking to upgrade this in the spring to a proper secure fence as I want to extend the bottom section of the hutch to give them more space for the days they cant go in the run.

Thank you, i've found a hutch with little legs on, so that will help too!

we have foxes around the town so I am very vigulant, but if they are determind enough then there isnt much more you can do - I dont want to sound blasie as I really am trying hard to keep them safe when out, dont even leave them out in the run when I am not around that day. Thankfully my guys like to retire upstairs at night so the temptation is less and I modified the ramp opening to be piggie sized only between the floors.

I also encourage pepper to make as much noise and fuss when in the garden as her land, not sure if that would really work but every little helps.

foxes are one reason i decided to keep our piggies indoors, someone not far from here had two taken from their hutch by foxes, if i were you, and you cant bring them in (and i understand some people cant) i would put padlocks on the hutch- will also deter thieves

Look for the thick galvanized steel type bars. The chicken wire/mesh is too soft and a fox can chew through it quite easily. Try to elevate it as best you can off of the ground and get big sturdy locks that can't be knocked or broken. Also try keeping it as close to the back door as you can, easier to keep and eye on then compared to down the other end of the garden
