That's right. You read that correctly. FIFTY guinea pigs. This person moved into a home that had "wild" guinea pigs. Apparently the previous owner had set his 10 piggies free because he didn't want to move with them. By the time the new home owner was able to catch them all 7 of the 10 were pregnant sows. Then next thing this guy knows they're all having babies. He now has 50 guinea pigs. I was able to relieve him of one.

I took my little Rufio out there to meet the boys and we were able to find him a friend. So far things are going great! Rufio is very gentle and nice. The meanest hes's gotten is marking his territory and rumbling at him. No teeth chattering or anything. They've been squished into the tunnel together for a while. They were eating hay together.

I've attached a few pictures of the boys. 17 boys. Plus Rufio. :)

And now here is Rufio and the new little boy. He doesn't have a name yet.

The little guy is 2 months old. So adorable.

How sad that man did that. It is lovely you have found Rufio a friend. Introduction looks like it is going well.

The photos of the 2 of them are just adorable. Rufio appears to have been spoilt for choice. It is very kind of the new homeowner to have taken the piggies on. I just cannot understand people who dump domesticated animals out into the unknown instead of turning them into a shelter.

OUCH! Sadly, it happens here in Britain, too! :(

It is great that you have found a place where Rufio could choose his own friend. I hope that they will be very happy together!

Does the person you got him from know how to sex babies and how important it is to separate boar babies at three weeks old to prevent any more pregnancies/inbreeding?
We have got information and guides at the top of our pregnancy section. He is welcome to join the forum if he needs help and advice to keep the situation from spiralling out of control.

This guy was so cool for taking in the piggies. After he gathered them all up he had them in boxes and giant tubs. He then made 3 big cages for them. He happened to have wood laying around so he made a kind of chicken coop for them. Two of the cages were next to each other. So were the 30 girls. The boys were in a smaller cage on the other side of the house. Tiny house so unfortunately the piggies are outside. Thankfully in the shade so when it gets hot this summer they're not baking in the sun.

He's definitely figured out to keep them separated after finding all the sows pregnant. Lol. In with the boys was a little one month old. So adorable. Rufio pushed him around a little bit so I cuddled with him while Rufio was making friends. There was a 6 month old in there and IMMEDIATELY there were problems. Looked like a stand off like in western movies. They were chattering their teeth so much. So the older one was taken out. After that they had a good time. In the first picture most of them were squished together in a corner. The other picture shows Rufio and 4 hanging out.

Rufio seemed to like the new guy and when I picked him up he immediately got comfortable and snuggled. All the others were really skiddish and tried to jump out of my hands. It was fate haha

The two of them woke me up this morning. They're doing fine but when Rufio lays anywhere near him he starts making a bunch of noise. He continues until Rufio moves. He just wants to share the tunnel with the little guy haha so now Rufio is at the complete opposite end staring at me for breakfast. Every great once in a while Rufio will rumble but other than that things are going well.

I've been calling the little one peanut butter because the lighter brown on him reminds me of peanut butter haha not sure if the name will stick. I have a feeling it's going to be peanut butter or candy related. He has peanut butter and chocolate colors! :D

I still can't get over 50 guinea pigs. I would have taken pictures of the girls but they were all hiding under hay and in boxes.

Whew! Such a long post! :) so many things to tell you guys though. I couldn't wait to tell all of you about the mass amounts of guinea pigs. The guy is calling it a cute-tastrophe.

How long should I wait to cuddle with the little guy? I'm having a difficult time restraining myself ;p I want to make sure he's all settled in before I grab hold of him and never let him go lol

Thank! When I got Duela she had already been soemone's pet and was used to being handled and wanted to be handled soon as I got her. This one not so much

Lovely pics. Hope they form a string bind and live happily together for many years

some people are just such selfish bleeps. ~(would get banned if i used the words i want to) So chuffed the guy is helping them out, not many people would..Pleased you have found a friend, they are mega cute

Still no real aggression problems but I was woken up at about 4am because Rufio was "chasing" the little guy. He wasn't really chasing him though. He was just following him around the cage and the little guy was running around making a ton of noises like he was about to be attacked. Again, Rufio will rumble occasionally but that's it. Should I be worried about this epic chase I'm the night? Or are they just figuring it out still?

I dont think that is anything to worry about, it sound like they are just figuring out the relationship.

I cant get over 50 guinea pigs though! That is unreal. Cute-ashtrophe is a great word!

The guy said he wanted to lay in a box and have all 50 of them poured on top of him and then just cuddle with them all for hours. I can get behind that haha
