Thanks all so much for the past week or so during forum donation season!!

I am proud to say we hit our target and then some, which meant I could pay for future year licenses and not only that, but tie down our domain names on longer contracts which is vital. We raised £894.40 for the running costs of the forum.

It has now all been spent on the following and services paid below:

Hosting of site and tech Support 12 Months until Sep 2022 = £550

XenForo 2.2 upgrade = £90

Tech work for incoming mail server = £30

TGPF Domain name renewal till 2029 £35.16

Google apps £22.08

Xenforo Software licence support & updates £58.84 & £54.97 until March 2023

We own various domain names that have been renewed on long term contracts-
domain renewal £6.92
domain renewal till Nov 2024 £26.98
domain renewal till Mar 2025 £19.80

So total outgoings
£894.75

So I added the 35p needed to achieve the above.

What is fantastic is we have paid for the future software license in advance, saved money for future years incoming email by moving mail servers and tied down all our domain names onto long-term contracts which will mean beating any price increases for a few years.
So I thank you all for your kindness.

Without donations, the forum would find it very difficult to fund and run. So thank you all so much I really appreciate your support and kindness, we have a wonderful community here

No it will have to be tap water this year...

Never mind the staff hot tub, I would like to know what sort of selection we can expect in the staff biscuit tin this year :D
Ruby would like to know what sort of additional perks are in place for the guinea pigs of staff members too.

But seriously, well done everyone for all that you do.
For all the posts and contributions and support, and also the funding and time to keep the site up and running and safe and informative.
I can't even imagine how many guinea pigs around the world lead better lives because of TGPF (mine included).

I feel awful I didn’t donate 😭 I haven’t been online much lately, saw the donation thread a few days ago and wanted to donate but had to wait to ask my partner to do it (as I’m rubbish with the banking app etc.. we just do things like that on his phone). Then wasn’t back on the forum until it was too late!
I’m so sorry, I missed it last time too.
Is there a chance I can still donate .. even if it sits in the TGPF account until next time please?
I love this forum so much, I’m gutted I didn’t help support it through donations..

Just wondering, does the forum pay more for software licences in order to not have to carry ads? I was looking at another forum a few days ago, which looked very similar but had big ads all over it. I'm very glad to not have to see ads, they get totally in the way

We choose not to advertise and run on donations. I personally hate ads littering a forum and despite knowing there’d bring revenue in I find them a distracting annoyance

I think that this approach is spot on. Also the companies who would want to advertise may well be pet-related and whether the product was something pretty good or something with mixed opinions it would look like the forum was recommending it somehow.

Saying that, they're quite clever with this personal targeting aren't they? I was browsing M&S for a new... erm 'sports undergarment' shall we say, and when my son borrowed the laptop for his homework he was startled to find a lot of smiling ladies in not-very-much that popped up all over the place! That's when we learned how to clear the cookies... 🤣
