Hi just got a Ferplast 120 for our soon to be rescue piggies ;) just wondering how best to organise it? Do they really use/go up that ramp? It seems ever so steep! I'd be worried about them falling off that eating shelf! Is it better to remove the whole hidey thing and buy a couple(?) of hidey boxes or something? Or do they need that extra level for interest and for somewhere separate to eat? Any other things vital to put inside it? Want to give them a comfortable, interesting home bit at the same time I don't want to fill it too full of stuff and give then not enough room to move about!
Any hints and tips and ideas welcome :)
Thanks!

It's totally safe i've had the cage before and many people do have it (:
My piggies didn't really use the steps they would just jump up !
Make sure you have 2 hidey houses for both that shelf one and another so each piggy has there own hidey space.
I like having a separate level for food just keeps it cleaner and more separate (:

I was interested in learning this myself for my piggies but still got some problems with it.
I was given a ferplast 120 when Betty was given to me by her previous owners.
I honest to god don't know why they stuck a rabbit her size in it. She's too big!

It's stuck in my room now, above my wardrobe collecting dust. I been trying to consider whether to use it or sell it. My guinea pigs are outdoors all the time, I don't really have any space in the house to set up the cage itself indoors.

Guineas will generally jump up there unless they're too old. I took mine out though as Fraz fell off his one awkwardly once so they just had hideys after that.

I must be underestimating their jumping abilities then lol! Will see how they get on with it and if they don't like it then will have a rethink. If the food is up there I suppose they'll have to use it or they'll go hungry! Do you have one food bowl between them or do you need one each as with hidey holes?

One of my piggies also because he had a fat bum would just sit on his back legs and stretch up to eat it instead of jumping !
I have one food bowl between piggies but some people have two.

I have a Ferplast 100 (which I dont use anymore because it is too small) but my piggies, even when they were smaller, would jump up and down, they really liked it. Their food was up there too.

But in the end, before I put them in another cage, I unclipped the ramp/stairs off and left the shelf so they could still jump up and down and I added a hidey to the cage. I could then put things underneath and it also gave them that little bit of extra space to move around.

In my cage, Miss Mabel uses the ramp but Doodle-Pig never goes up on to the shelf, so I put the food downstairs. I have a corner hammock too, that MM sits on top of and DP sits underneath :) They have fleecy cup beds too and a wooden hay rack that hangs from the side. x
