Do you just let piggies run around livingroom etc? I am worried that if I let mine loose in the livingroom they will disappear behind settee, tv, hifi unit etc and I wont be able to get them out. I would like them to have some free time as they havent been able to go in run today because of the rain but having them on sofa isnt exactly free time for them. What do you all do?

I put mine in the hall, close the living room door and door into kitchen, put some paper down, few toys and away they go, popping all over the place, even trying to get up the stairs!

When mine are allowed to free range they can go anywhere they want apart from the 2 bedrooms because then it's impossible to catch them. They go behind the TV ect but there alot easier to catch than a rabbit. When it's Miffy's turn takes so much effort and energy to try catch him :))

Mine don't live free range but when they have indoor play time I block of all tempting holes etc.. with everything and anything I can get my hands on - boxes, cushions, pillows, shoes. They tend to know exactly where I don't want them to go and head there first! Its worth 10 mins guinea proofing the room to see them galloping about tho, they really love it!

Here is a link to a video of my girls floor time...

Thank you for replies, I dont have a hall so it would need to be livingroom. I'm going to piggie proof then let them loose for a while and see how it goes ;)
daisyd, I saw your vids before, it was actually those that got me thinking about free time in livingroom :(|)

I used to have mine free in living room but they were very fond of wiring, skirting boards and the wooden futon! So if you do do it, make sure they have plenty to keep them entertained, a litter area and nothing dangerous/precious to chew on!

Well I blocked off all routes to wires etc and brought their litter tray and some nibbles in for them and let them run around. They stayed huddled together at first but after a bit they started to wander off exploring :)

My piggies are allowed to free range all day around the dining room, kitchen, hall and bathroom. In the evening when we are home all other doors are open as well. Most of the time they stay in the dining room but a few of them might have a stroll around the house. They used to make a lot more use of it when I still allowed them to be in the spare bedroom. However my baby pigs weren't really clean and would miss their boxes and pee on the carpet. So I had to put a stop to the 3rd bedroom and I think they never forgiven me as they don't walk about so much any more. Or maybe the new cage gives them all the freedom they desire.

apart from the fact my dogs would eat them (or one certainly would) all four would most certainly pee and poop all over my house so that is a no, no for me !
