Thats a joke surely... :))

One dreads to think what poor animal was kept in them.

I think drying them out throuroughly to remove bugs and growth, seperate the panels, give a thorough sand and a clean, new chicken mesh, repaint and new screws and hinges. A lick of water proof grit on the roof.. and these cages can still be of use! I reckon you'd save yourself 40 quid for the vet kitty. You'd have to look after them better than the previous owner obviously.. and it's one heck of a project.. but people are so used to throwing things away these days its really heart breaking.

In their current state tho.. they do stink! Hope they've been vacant all that time to get in that state!

haha.. Am I the only person who thinks there's life in them bones yet? I think maybe I'm being too optimistic. I will have to re-calibrate my 'hope-metre'! :))

I like your optimisim:)) I saw them and was horrified of the thought of some unfortunate animals living in these past or present. £8 is a bit steep though if you look you can pick a decent one up for around £40.

I too hate throwing things away, but these are definitely only fit for a bonfire!

I actually thought the same as you, they could be saved and given a complete overhaul but I'd only want to do it if someone gave me them for free. And that's aside from the fact that both look too small to use for much, though I guess they could be connected to a run and just used as a sheltered section. I think really I'd rather spend a little bit more money and build my own from scratch!

I've got an old one like this, it's no good for my piggies/buns, so I took the floor out of the day compartment, put a cushion in the night compartment and covered the whole thing with a tarpaulin right down to the ground apart from one small area. This is where the cat has got somewhere dry and comfortable to shelter if it rains whilst we're out. He quite like his comfy hideyhole. ;)
