Hello :-).

I have only the minimum size cage for 3 guinea pigs so I'd like to get some essentials up off the ground. I don't want a whole other layer (because they'll just live on the bottom, I'm sure) but about 2.5ft by 1.5ft at one end, with a very gentle ramp to put food, water and hay rack on. Basically, I'd like to check that the piggies won't starve, they will go up there, won't they?!

Thanks xx

DEFINITELY! Esp if it's for food.

I have 2 that came from very basic living to me. I put a small loft that was filled with hay and all food was served up there. They would fly up the ramp as soon as food was served.

They didn't for a few hours maybe even a day and I started to weaken but then they had it sussed by the next morning.

Mezzanine floors and gentle ramps are no problem at all!

Just make sure that you arrange main feeding in a way that all three piggies can get at their food at the same time (no blocking off the access from the ramp with your rump!).

Thanks for the reassurence guys :-).

Good point!

Good point!

I have seven, so "traffic jams" are a consideration with my tribe! :)):)):))

PS: If you have hay upstairs, make sure that it doesn't end up all over the place in and outside the cage. I preferred to have mine under the platform, but serve the other food on the top.
